THE ROLLING STONES All Meat Music

A funny double album with an odd performance by the Stones at the Forum in Los Angeles in a one-off to benefit victims of the massive Nicaragua earthquake in the town where Bianca was from. The band raised a TON of money for the cause, pulled some chestnuts out of their back catalog and although it gets sloppy sometimes, it sure sounds like everyone's having a blast with the boys back in town.

Usually when I dust off an old vinyl STONES boot, it's a bad audience recording from the bleachers but this one's surprisingly good and it's low in CD circulation too so turn it up and LET IT ROCK...

The sound quality is that of an average 70's vinyl bootleg and the Stones sound LOUD. Mick Taylor's guitar cuts through like a razor. In celebration of the newly released "Ladies And Gentlemen, The Rolling Stones" DVD, here are four sides of rock & roll as good as it comes.

  2. F yeah Mr Jim! I WAS AT this concert at the tender age of 11, mom chaparone in hand, row in front of us smoking weed throughout the whole show and the whole nine, lol!

The night opened up with Cheech & Chong! They were at their height with "Basketball Jones" and they started the evening with a 20-30 min performance doing all their funny routines.

Then SANTANA came out. Their album at the time was Caravansarai (another jem) and they jammed for an hour straight mostly instrumental and mostly without stopping. There were no hits, they just basically jammed.

There was the usual long wait for the Stones to come out and well of course you can hear the rest for yourself. It's everything Jim said it is. I have tons of Stones boots, some extremely rare and All Meat Music remains one of my favorites, its an incredible historical performance. Yes Mick Taylor is very loud, the taper is clearly very close to his amps and very possibly was front far left and very possibly the infamous WHEELCHAIR taper that recorded a lot of the LA Forum boots for Trade Mark Of Quality. (The old tape recorder inside of the wheelchair trick. Whatever mic was used (this is a mono) is actually very good quality for the time period.

Jim, you didn't mention anything about the colored vinyl and I'm curious as to which two colors you have in your set. The original pressing of this which I have had the first record as a white grey and black splatter and the second record was all clear, like almost a see through vinyl. I have a friend that has a later version that has orange and green. Also the original pressing is the only one that has the INCREDIBLE cover artwork printed right onto the jacket. All subsequent pressings were the famous paper inside the plastic.
